drama and Los Angeles

My classmate was able to parttake in the protests this weekend for immigration law (his parents are from El Salvador) and I thought that it was interesting and an interesting piece of history for my city. One of the controversies is that helping an illegal immigrant would make the person helping a felon. I know how I feel about that and all of the other ideas because my husband is an immigrant but he came here legally but I'm not sure I feel comfortable getting into politics on my blog. I know the ideas behind the law but what about someone who is thirsty or hungry?

Anyway, my friend said that he was impressed by all of the American flags being waved and then even more impressed when, the next day on the radio, a conservative talk show host said something to the effect of "if you want us to like you, try waving the US flag instead of your home country's flag" (So was this talk show host even there? Or was he just watching poorly edited news coverage?)

On another subject, my oldest stepdaughter Camila has decided that she wants to live with her grandparents now and she is demanding to come to the US. Dennis is worried for her because she is not living with her little sister and her mother anymore. I see this as an act of teenage rebellion (she's 13), and am praying that Dennis sees this as a blessing because she wants to be with him. Doesn't everyone get overly irritated with their mother when they are a teenager?? I remember being very dramatic and threatening to run away quite a few times. So pray for my stepdaughter (atleast that she passes through her teen years safely and quickly!)

Interesting article Erin. Will see how ends up that dilemma. Here in WA also saw some Mexican immigrants waving flags near the airport, and I had not seen the news for a couple of days, so did not know what was going on until I saw the news tonight, lol. I believe those Mexicans waving Mexican flags here near the airport were illegal immigrants but I'm not really sure.

Have a great rest of the week Erin.

Blessings. :)

Hi Erin!

Well I think that's great she wants to come to be with her dad. I was pretty much the opposite when I was a teen, I loved my mom and couldn't stand my dad LOL.

I'll make a short comment on the immigration issue. I know how hard it was to get Alex legally through all our immigration headaches but my heart goes out to those who are less fortunate. The things some people will go through to just make it into our country is amazing and I just don't think immigration should be so hard.

Hope you're having a great week!

Hugs,

Stacie

Hola Erin,

Hey Erin,

How's things going, hope all is well. I agree with Stacie, Immigration shouldn't be that hard. I have to re-apply this year, which I'm not looking forward too. Those 2yrs went by fast!

Hope you have a wonderful weekend.
~Hugs~
