general things...

some general things that I've been thinking about that bother me.... This might be a list...

• Why is Oprah being called "Lady O" now? Does this imply that she is royalty? And why do we care about Oprah's house in Hawaii, after Hawaii's earthquake. Apparently, there was also some major structural damage to um, the hospital.


• Ciggerettes are really expensive. Very expensive. (Like 5 bucks for a pack, right?) I have family with budgets so tight that ciggerettes and milk are about the only 2 things they can afford to buy (yeah, there's problems with that...). But at Pepperdine, I always see ciggerettes on the ground with huge HUGE "butts". This means that Pepperdine students feel like they can take maybe one puff from the ciggerette before throwing the ciggerette away! This is fine but I have friends and family who are/have been so poor that they would probably pick those basically unused ciggerettes up! (yeah, it's gross and redneck but I defy any of you to tell me that you've never seen someone do it!!) I suppose that it is okay that Pepperdine students are basically smoking just a little and probably to look cool but that's a lot of cash to throw away. It would be more economic to save the ciggerette and keep it in your pack. I've seen lots do it. And you'd certainly have more money to pay all of the public safety tickets for your bmws and audis.


• Someone asked me why I don't like Condoleeza Rice. Because, rightly so, if I'm going to say that I don't like a politician then I should probably say that it's for more then because I think she's annoying/clueless/scripted in her interviews. (How is this different then when people say they don't like Hillary Clinton because they find her to be cold and hard?). Anyway, I figured it out: I don't really like her because of her pushing us into the war. I don't like the war, or the idea that we had to go in to look for weapons. And I don't think we can continue to justify it. It's my little editorial that you can totally disagree with because you and I both live in the US. yay!


• Phil Angelides needs a better campaign. I'm not liking the terminator as my governor but his ads are better. If the only reason you can give me for NOT voting for him, is that he supports Bush and that you were inspired to be in politics when Nixon was in trouble, then you are not convincing me. And I'm a member of your party, dude.


• "The Bachelor" needs to stop. They seriously need to stop airing this show. It's retarded.


• "Cops" needs to stop too. And all of the Cops-like shows ("Texas SWAT", "REAL LIFE POLICE CHASES" etc.)


• The guy at the gym who put the TV channel on "South Park" deserves an employee award. Because not all of us want to watch SportsCenter/Fishing/Basketball/anything sports.


• yeah. this needs to stop too.
