Rock and Roll RIP

"The End of An Era" (?)

Last night we went to the closing of the last "dive bar" in Malibu (read: the last bar in Malibu where there are no tourists or college students and everyone knows everyone). It was basically bought out. They are replacing it with something fancier and more expensive.

We aren't big partiers at all but we went to support the owner and everyone- it's located next to Dennis's work and he has gone there after work to relax. He had friends there. It's kind of sad and kind of silly- it was like an outdoor hippie concert but indoors. The band (seriously as old as my dad) played Rolling Stones songs and "Last Dance with Mary Jane" by Tom Petty.

When we left, Dennis said "I am so old." Maybe. I suspect our party days are over- we left at 11:30-ish.

In other news, Chavez is still president of Venezuela. I totally called it. I'm not surprised but I'm not amused by him anymore. In the beginning, his jokes made me laugh. But now, it's getting old and I'm kind of annoyed by the idea that they outlawed Christmas trees and Santa in Venezuela because it is a reminder of the US culture. That's splitting hairs. Hugo Chavez, you are no longer entertaining. I wish your country well.
