I've been rather negative lately so I've decided to shake things up and list some things that I'm kind of rather thankful for.
- I'm thankful for the blind man who is healed, in the Gospel of John. Even if it means losing his place in synagogue, he falls at the feet of Jesus.
- I'm thankful for the song "eyes" by Rogue Wave.
- I'm thankful for brilliant, escapist TV/Movies that make me think for hours later. (Seriously, see "The Prestige" only if you want to think.) "Six Feet Under" on Bravo- also brilliant.
- I'm thankful for twinkies. They are so bad and yet soooo good.
- I'm thankful for Joanna Mason, in my Johannine writings class. It's nice to know that I'm not the only girl.
- I'm thankful for a healthy marriage. Dennis didn't want to play shadow puppets with my new mini book light tonight, and I pouted. But he bought me dinner, picks up my prescriptions, makes me laugh, and I really love how he smells.
- I'm also thankful for Lori, my neighbor, who I know is praying for me while I stress out with school.
- I'm thankful for the sacred moment I spent talking with a spanish worker today, showing her photos of my stepdaughters.
- I'm also thankful for the insulin pump. It's kind of annoying because it's so big and I feel like it's so obvious. But it really has made a difference in my diabetes. And it's worth it.
- I'm so thankful for the decisions I've made in life and for the things that make my story unique and intricate. I love that we got married in Vegas and that I wore sneakers. I love our story. I love the woman that I'm growing to be because of things like the life and death of my mother. I love that I don't cook and that our apartment doesn't look like a page out of an ikea magazine. I love that there are photos of our family and friends everywhere.
- I'm thankful for boundaries.
- I'm thankful for my Dad, who has a cellphone and his own apartment now.
- I'm thankful for learning to drive and that I haven't crashed/nobody has honked at me.
- I'm thankful for the apple pie that my neighbor made. I'm tempted to keep her pretty plate.
- I'm thankful for learning today that Thomas, in the 4th Gospel, said "My Lord, My God!" before/without having to touch the nail scars on Jesus' hands and the wound in his side. It makes Thomas so much more wonderful and touching.
See, they are quite gorgeous.
