Grandma + Ronald Reagan= Love

my grandmother is not thrilled with the possibility that we might have a female president in 2008. I'm going to remove myself from the discussion and try to be objective- this is just how my grandparents see politics:

me: Grandma, Dennis is really interested in the fact that a woman will run for president...

Grandma: Why? I hate her!

me: I didn't say he likes her...

Grandma: She's horrible. I don't understand how anyone would vote for her...

me (having flashbacks to the past 2 presidential elections where she says the same thing but inserts "Gore" or "Kerry" instead of "her"): well, she might not win the primaries...

Grandma: but I don't like Obama... I hate Obama.

me: what about Bill Richardson, he's governor of New Mexico right?

Grandpa (on the other phone): I might vote for him...

Grandma: oh you will not! he's awful too!

Grandpa: he's not so bad...

Grandma: yes he is! all he does is goes around to make himself look good on television

Grandpa: they all do that...

Grandma: no they don't! No I don't like any of those candidates!

me: well, Grandpa you can base your vote this time on who you'd most rather have a beer with. Because you can't have a beer with Hilary Clinton...

Grandma: well, there's also McCain....

me: But is that all? I know he's from Arizona. I guess you'll vote for him...

Grandma: and Rudolph Giuliani...

me: but the only reason he's running is because people like him after September 11th....

Grandma: Well we don't know until the primaries.... the Superbowl is on Sunday, it should be a good game...

me: Isn't it always on Sundays? Everyone here wants the patriots to win...

Grandma: Well, I don't know why they would because I want the bears to win...

me: so do I, Grandma...

---end scene---
seriously, I can't make this stuff up. My grandfather (88 years old) reads war novels and sleeps all day and my grandmother (82 years old) watches football. It's brilliant. I want to be like her when I grow up- She's held on to the remote control (and the vote) for the past 61 years!!

(she also loves Jesus, Billy Graham, the Chicago Bulls, the LA Lakers and LA Dodgers, and the Dallas Cowboys...)

OMG Erin your grandparents are so cool! xD A grandpa that reads war novel and a grandma that watches Superbowl. WOW! What more can a grandchild expect from an 80 years olds grandparents! Haha!

Oh, did I mention they're so cute in the photo too? :)

Btw, Erin.. I wear comfortable clothes when I go clubbing. Sometimes I wear mini skirts with tight fitting tops or jeans and mini T. It depends on the group I go with or the mood. Moody days, it's just jean n mini T. LOL. I don't really go clubbing these days tho. :( Too tired to go out at night. LOL

I also read about Hilarry pesenting her to be governator and I have to say I like the idea: I wanna see how a woman rules the world ;-)

Hello Erin,
That's so funny! You couldn't have made this up! Some elderly people have such a logic and reasoning of their own. They are not affraid of sounding politically incorrect, or speaking their mind up. My mother in law is just like that; she can derail even the most serious of conversations.
I hope we grow up to be like them!
