Digital Press Kit....

On Thursday, I received a "digital press kit" for the new Halle Berry movie, "Perfect Stranger". Me, having NO IDEA what a "digital press kit" is, see a DVD from Sony, that looks like a free movie before it's even released in theaters. Cool! I totally wouldn't have paid to see this movie anyway as I'm not a big Halle Berry fan! (It was kind of addressed to Dennis, not to me, because he knows someone in Sony.)

So tonight, we put it in the player. And it was like a retarded mess of root menu that I couldn't figure out- no video, just music and file folders. We looked at the box again, and in the corner it says "CD-ROM". So we thought "ok. we have to watch the movie on our computer."

Fine. So I put it in the dvd drive and up pulled what looked much more like an intact video. But what we have here is photos of Halle Berry and Bruce Willis, an mp3 of the main song, the trailer, and notes on who was in the movie and who was involved in production. Dennis said "well, maybe this is what they send to people who review movies?"

What the Hell? No. If you are sending me a DVD that I'm supposed to review, you send me the movie. What else am I reviewing? The artwork for your movie poster? Whatever. I really now am starting to think that I got punked and that this was a late april fool's day joke. Because I was really really excited to get a free movie early before its' theater release. I was "this close" to inviting friends over to watch it with us. I was about to tell Dennis to tell his friend that I think he's kind of awesome.

Cause what do you do with a "digital press kit" of a Halle Berry movie that you weren't going to see anyway? (Even if it was for like "Traffic" or one of those Oscar-winning movies, what would you do?) Basically, I have on DVD form anything you can already get online at imdb.com or on the official site. Right now, It would be really good if we had like a problem with one of our table legs. Because it would go well underneath a table leg....

Anyway, here's wishing you a happy, blessed Easter! :D

I remember when I used to work for a PR company, I would send out vhs tapes! Remember those? LOL

I worked with a lady at the hospital who had a friend in the "biz" and would get copies of any new movie release while they were still in the theatre, and they had a device that would let you copy the movie and so my co-worker got new movies before they were out on cable or DVD...so I'm fairly sure that it wasn't something like that...probably more like a promotional "come see our movie" gift - which - I agree - I wouldn't pay too much money to see a Halle Berry movie either.

Happy Easter...

Oh - and what my co-worker at the hospital was doing is incredibly illegal but I don't care since I really didn't like her anyway and never took her up on her offer to borrow any of the movies. It would've been kind of fun to come in to work and find out she'd been arrested for piracy or something. Tee hee...

I ended up opting out of the bicycle shorts/turtleneck option and wore the turtleneck/dress slacks option instead.

Sagebrush Cantina is one of our favorite places to go so when you said mexican restaurant in Calabasas I figured it had to be there! :-)
